de la vega is at the scene gathering information and we'll check in with her at a live shot. the chp will hold a news conference at 10:00 this morning to reveal more about this weekend's deadly limo fire. a cell phone video shows the horrific scene on the bridge saturday night when a stretch limousine became a death trap. five women including the bride to be were killed. the lincoln town car somehow became engulfed in flames. the five women were unable to escape that raging fire. >> it was the most horrific death scene i have ever seen. they were up against the partition which separates the passenger come apartment the from the drivers compartment. >> four women along with the limo driver survived. the driver is quoted in today's san francisco chronicle. he says the first sign he had something was wrong when one of

the women knocked on the partition and complained of smelling smoke. moments later the women screamed at him to pull over. ktvu tara moriarty joins us now with more on the victims of this tragic fire. tara. >> reporter: two of the victims are recovering at the santa clara medical system. as the two were part of a group of nine celebrating the upcoming wedding. now condolences for the 31-year- old poured on her facebook page. 34-year-old jazmine of san jose are being treated here at the santa clara valley medical center. >> i was shocked. i was shocked. i just heard this morning. terrible. >> reporter: friends visiting mary grace and 36-year-old nail yeah of oakland are still

recovering at stanford hospital. friends dropped by and said faux has a registered nurse will be missed by min. live from san jose i'm tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 news. a shooting in oakland killed one man and wounded another one overnight. the fire erupted around 10:45 last night. one victim died after being driven to the hospital by a friend. the other victim was rushed to the hospital by ambulance and is expected to survive. no arrests have been made and so far no suspect information. later today east palo alto police will discuss a recent

spike in violence including a shooting that injured six people. investigators say two men in a car opened fire on a bus stop on bay road near university avenue yesterday afternoon around 2:45. bullets hit five people including a grandmother who was with her six-year-old granddaughter. the girl fell while trying to run away but was not hit. >> several of the victims appear to be gang members. >> police say all of the victims are expected to survive. east palo alto police are also investigating a shooting that wounded a man on saturday night. new information on cinco de mayo celebrations gone rowdy. police say intoxicated people from a nearby house party were causing problems. there were reports of rocks and bottles thrown at officers. unmarked police vehicles being

vandalized and atv bus being set on fire. cooler weather is helping firefighters gain control of a major wild fire. that wild fire burned 28,000- acres in ventura county and damaged 15 homes. four firefighters did suffer minor injuries. investigators are still look into the cause of the fire but say it is not arson. a wild fire burning northeast of chico is about 60% contained. more than 6800 acres has burned. fortunately no homes have been locked. we're learning new information about the deadly plane crash that killed three u.s. airmen last week. the department of defense says all three airmen were part of

the refueling squad near spokane. two are from california. victoria of palm dale and 30- year-old herman mackey of bakersfield. the cause of the crash is still under investigation. syrian rebels have shot down a military helicopter killing all government troops on board. i want to show you video. this was posted online today. it shows several armed men reportedly syrian rebels standing in front of the wreckage of a helicopter. the men in the video says rebels shot down the helicopter has it was taking off from an air base. syria is vowing to retaliate over the weekend. syria says the air strikes destroyed a government research facility. israel has not officially confirmed the attack but unofficially israeli sources says it targeted i rain january

missiles. reportedly the long-range missiles would allow them to hit targets deep inside israel. a pg&e employee injured in an electrical flash is recovering this morning. it happened yesterday afternoon. there san equipment failure as crews were fixing a transformer. that caused the electric flash that injured the employee. the flash also caused a power outage. 2600 customers were effected at first but most got their pao back within a few hours. starting today bart will be able to ban passengers from riding its trains. the agency will be targeting riders that are caught harassing other passengers, urinating in public, or defacing trains. if someone is banned from bart they could be ordered not to ride the trains for up to a year.

game four tomorrow night. the giants swept the dodgers in an exciting victory. how is this for service? a prokayaker hired by espn gave out free hot dogs on mccovey cove. meantime inside the park pence drove in all four runs for the giants yesterday. san francisco were scoreless until the eighth. the dodgers did rally for three runs. they will host three games against the phillies starting tonight. right now it is 4:40. and there is controversy surrounding the boston marathon bombing suspect. the new order from boston. plus as the warriors advance to the playoffs we are getting a new look at the plans for a new arena in san francisco. good morning. san mateo bridge traffic does look good. no major problems there. we'll tell you more about the morning commute. look at 'em.

good morning. partly cloudy. a few breaks in the clouds but there is plenty to the east and west. highs in the 70s. possible scattered showers. back now to breaking news of a fire in a parking garage located right below san jose apartments. janine de la vega is live at the scene with the very latest there. janine. >> reporter: we are here on sames drive. you can see that there is a big fire response here with engines as well as ambulances and there is actually at least 100 people waiting out here. they are in their pajamas they are huddled in blankets. apparently a fire broke out in the under ground parking garage. you can see there, there is firefighters coming out. for more information we will be talking to rob brown. can you tell me what appears to

have happened here? >> it appears we had a car fire in the garage level. so we have several vehicles that were damaged by fire. a few more that have had heat damage. a lot of smoke production. so when we got here we had a lot of the occupants trying to get their cars out of the building. we were able to get the fire under control relatively quickly. we did have two residents that suffered minor smoke inhalation. >> reporter: and i see kind of right behind you in the distance firefighters are coffering it -- covering it right now but there appears to be a car it was a kia and melted. >> that was one of the vehicles that was damaged. i'm not sure how that got out of the garage. >> reporter: do we know how this started? was somebody smoking? was it because of a car engine?

where italian state television says italy's former seven time premier has died. he was hospitalized last year from heart problems stemming from a respiratory problem. the deceased suspect in the boston marathon bombings will not be buried in cambridge, massachusetts. he will not allowed tamerlan tsarnaev to be buried within city limits. he died three days after the bombing. tsarnaev's uncle has been searching for burial sites in other parts of new england without success. i want to check in with sal for a look add traffic. how is the early morning commute? >> i think it's pretty good right now pam and brian. the traffic does look good around the bay area. if you are driving on any of the bridges, it is a nice drive. we've been looking at

interstatal 80 which is one of the busiest freeways of the morning. from vallejo to berkeley it looks pretty good. there is a lot of people out on the road. when you get to the toll plaza it is light. there are no construction delays. in san jose northbound 280 traffic and northbound 101 both of those are off to a good start. now let's go to steve. thank you, sal. what a difference a couple days make. on saturday on saturday san francisco was 60 degrees yet livermore was 89. by sunday everybody came under the came influence of that low. but just incredible change from one day to the the next. the low is still here. it will hang around for a couple of cays. partly cloudy here in the morning. it's mainly in the afternoon. by this afternoon, we will get a little afternoon heating. days are long. the sun is higher. not as windy but it stays cool to mild. two sources one off the sierra and one coming up from the

the push to save pete's harbor will continue later tonight. the city council is recommending a -- the harbor owner evicted tenants in order to sell the property to a land developer. the planning commission wants many more public input. family and friends are mourning two men who drowned after their canoe capsized near los gatos. four people were in the canoe when it overturned yesterday. a 16-year-old girl and a 25- year-old man were able to swim to shore and call for help. divers found two men in the water who were pronounced dead add the-- at the hospital. no one was wearing a life jacket. a pedestrian is fighting to stay alive after being hit by a car in the contra corsica retirement community of ross moore. police assay the car veer --

police say the car veered off the road and hit the pedestrian. the pedestrian was last listed in serious condition. the driver was also injured. anyone with information about this accident is asked to call police. divers in calveras county searched two reservoirs over the weekend in connection with the stabbing death of an eight- year-old girl. leila fowler was found dead in her home more than a week ago. police continue to search for the intruder but have not said if anything of interest was found at the reservoirs. time is 4:54. let's go back to sal. how does it look out there? >> it looks good brian and pam. so far it's light. weather is not an issue for drivers. it's actually looking pretty good as we go out and take a look at san francisco here northbound 101 and eastbound 80 cooperating. trying to get into the the downtown area with no major delays. also the morning commute looks good coming in from the east bay. westbound into san francisco

which is the busiest commute in the area. if you are driving on 101 and 280 it does driving into the santa clara county. february and march nay you can see things like this but may it's just our whacky season i guess. but it's there. it's continuing to rotate off the san mateo coast. and it's drawing in a lot of moisture. two sources. and also coming up from the southwest wrapping back around the low. partly cloudy and mostly cloudy here in the morning. very rare to see this. 30-degree drop in temps. maybe a possible thunderstorm. days are definitely longer and the angel of the sun is high enough. a little instability would not be out of the elm. there is some of that moisture swinging up. it would move along the san
